One face, seven sizes
A typeface is not one drawing. Set small it needs open counters and loose fitting; set large the same fitting reads as a gap you could park in. Each line below carries the tracking that size wants, which is why the numbers on the right are negative by the bottom.

Verso Type Foundry was set up in 2019 above a bookbinder in Leeds, and still shares the building with it. Six families, all of them started as commissions that the client eventually let us keep.

Verso Display carries a continuous weight axis from 400 to 900 in a single file. Every value in between is a real instance, not six static cuts pretending to be a family — scroll, and watch it move through all of them.

Text
Set for reading, not for looking
A text face earns its keep in the third paragraph, not the first line. Verso Text was drawn at 10 point on uncoated stock and only afterwards checked at display sizes, which is the opposite of how most families are made and the reason this one holds its colour down a long column. The italic is a true italic, redrawn rather than sloped, and it is narrow enough that a citation does not blow out the measure.
